Well, what a day. the weather
held out for us. and the work we put in to our stand paid off. We spent
the last 4 months setting up this event, and what happened, we won 2nd
prize. So 1st of all thanks to the participants. In no particular order
Pete and Joan for the XK150, Arthur and Doris for the hybrid Mark 1 (
for the technical ones a rebodied Mk8. Fort the full story on this car
see this months Classic and Sportscar ) Brian Perkins for the Mk 5,
Brian Horspool for
the E Type, Bob and Beryl Brown for the beautiful Van Den Plas
Daimler
XJ6, Ernie and Janet for the new (very New) S type Diesel, and Stuart
Wright for
the beautiful (if that the right word) XJ8 hearse not forgetting Mark
and Liz for the Austin J2 (it keeps turning up!!). The theme of the
stand was "Hatch, Match and Dispatch", and with everyone dressed in
period clothes (including me and Carol as Mum and Dad) it was a
fabulous day. Now for the people involved. Carol and I stood in as the
happy parents. Our son (William) as the couple getting married were
Allan and Gillian. Us in the 1970's were John and Anne. us as middle
aged were Bob And Beryl and Ernie and Janet were the funeral directors
at my cremation. We were all delighted with the prize and insisted
Carol, who had done most of the work (including making the
outfits)
went up to receive the prize from Sir Stirling Moss.
